Clients

Who do we take?

This is a service specifically to help the elderly and/or sick people in our local area who are without family support and who cannot use public or private transport. Clients should be mobile i.e. able to get out of the car on their own and walk unaccompanied. However if the client has a mobility or other problem then a relative or a friend should accompany them to their appointment to help and take responsibility for them.
Clients should live in the following area: - Twyford, Wargrave, Crazies Hill, Charvil, Sonning, Ruscombe, Waltham St Lawrence, Hurst , Knowl Hill and Shurlock Row.

Where do we take to?

Transport is available to and from the client’s home to local hospitals, doctor’s surgeries and other medically related appointments such as opticians or dentists. The majority of our journeys are to the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading but other hospitals include Townlands in Henley, Bracknell Clinic and Wokingham Hospital. We regret that at the present time we are not able to offer transport to day care centres, shopping or social visits.

How much does it cost?

There is a rate card of standard charges which is based on mileage of 45p a mile and there is a minimum charge of £2.50. If the appointment is of a long duration, then two separate journeys taking and bringing back may be required necessitating a double charge.
If clients have a bus pass then they are eligible for free transport.
Volunteer driver’s time is freely given.

If you require transport then please telephone our office which is open Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 12.00pm.
